coin collecting.metal detector?

First off does a metal detector get triggered with useless regular coins like quarters or will i be able to get a response from more precious metals?

I work at a bank an instead of taking all the rolled coin apart to see if there is silver id rather have something quiet and hand held that i could check quickly. Is there such a device?
